Q ENERGY has acquired a stake in Pennavel, strengthening the development of a floating offshore wind farm off southern Brittany, France.

The move reinforces the existing consortium, which includes Elicio France and BayWa r.e. France. The partners aim to advance a large-scale project with strong economic, industrial and environmental impact.

Pennavel said the new shareholder enhances its technical expertise and delivery capability. The project targets the development of a competitive floating wind ecosystem in France.

Jérôme Hilt, Project Director of Pennavel, said the deal confirms the project’s solid foundations. He added that Q ENERGY brings experience and shared commitment to a pioneering offshore wind development.

Q ENERGY has operated in France for more than two decades. The company played a key role in the Saint-Brieuc Bayoffshore wind project, one of the country’s first large-scale developments, commissioned in 2024.

As part of the Hanwha group, Q ENERGY also benefits from synergies with Hanwha Ocean, particularly in offshore wind vessel capabilities.

Ken Ilacqua, Offshore Director at Q ENERGY France, said the company joined Pennavel due to the project’s maturity and strong regional foundation. He noted that the partnership aligns with Q ENERGY’s long-term vision for offshore wind development in France.

The project also reinforces local ambitions in Brittany. Pennavel aims to support a sustainable and competitive regional supply chain, while maintaining close cooperation with institutional and industry stakeholders.

The investment marks another step in the expansion of floating offshore wind in France and strengthens the sector’s long-term growth outlook.
