Two-Indian Flagged LPG Tankers, Shivalik and Nanda Devi, have crossed the Strait of Hormuz and are now heading towards India.

The Shivalik is loaded with 40,000 metric tons of gas, while the Nanda Devi is carrying fuel.

Sources described their passage as a ‘very careful operation’ conducted with the cooperation of Tehran.

The passage of the two tankers owned by Shipping Corporation of India was made possible after intense diplomatic efforts between India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who held four rounds of talks with his Iranian counterpart, Seyed Abbas Araghchi.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also held high-level discussions with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to secure the safe transit of Indian ships.

He also expressed his concern over increasing hostilities and loss of civilian and seafarer lives as a result of the war.

“The safety and security of Indian nationals, along with the need for unhindered transit of goods and energy, remain India’s top priority,” he posted on X.

New Delhi is working to secure passage for more
